Pädagogischen Hochschule Kärnten / Viktor Frankl Hochschule – University College of Teacher Education has a pleasure to host the 11th International Conference of Education between 24 – 25 May
The topic of thies Conference is “Teacher Education, Sustainability and Development. Changes, Issues, Solutions for Teaching in the 21st Century.”
During the event participants from ten different countries will present their work which is related to internationalisation and explore aspects such as diversity, globalisation, interculturality, multilingualism, political education, and in particular, sustainable development.
For the first time the Pädagogische Hochschule Kärnten / Viktor Frankl Hochschule – University College of Teacher Education hosts this English speaking conference. The Office for International Affairs as the organizer, is looking forward to welcoming international guests.
You are kindly welcome to the 12th International Meeting 2018 which takes place during 15 – 19 October, 2018 at the Pädagogische Hochschule Kärnten / Viktor Frankl Hochschule, University College of Teacher Education. On Friday, April 20, 2018, we had a pleasure to welcome the Excellence, Ambassador Dr. Joachim Öppinger, at the University College of Teacher Education. Together with the head of the Office for International Affairs Prof. Mag. Dr. Pia-Maria Rabensteiner, BEd he gave a lecture about Chile. We were very glad that there were so many people who showed their interest in Chilean culture, art and land as well as in study opportunities. The presentation which included lots of beautiful pictures, audio and video streaming made definitely a good impression on the participants.

On 20 April, 2018 we are welcoming His Excellency, the Ambassador Dr. Joachim Öppinger at the UCTE. He is the Austrian Ambassador in Santiago de Chile.
Together with the Head of the Office for International Affairs he will offer you a lecture about Chile and some information about the culture, country and art. You are welcome to join the lecture from 11:00 to 12:00 , room 1100 (Hörsaal A).

On 21 March, 2018, the Erasmus+ Information Day took place in the foyer of the Pädagogische Hochschule Kärnten / University College of Teacher Education between 11:00 and 13:30.
Incoming students, former outgoing students as well as the participants from the International Staff week presented their partner institutions and their home countries.
The event was very well attended and we are glad that there is such a big interest from the PHK/UCTE students to perform a school practice or a semester abroad.

In the periode from 19 – 23 March, 2018, five guests from various partner institutions visited Pädagogische Hochschule Kärnten / University College of Teacher Education as part of the International Staff Week. An extensive programme of the International Staff week was created for the participant.was created. The guests were able to get to know the Austrian school system, University College of Teacher Education and they could exchange information with teachers and students.

The group Matakustix had a big concert in Klagenfurt on 2 December, 2017. The Office for International Affairs received from group members two tickets to give away to the international students. To give the students a fair chance of receiving the tickets, a draw was organized in Vienna and two lucky names were chosen.
We are sure that the lucky winners were part of a very special event.

During the time from 27 November, 2017 till 1 December, 2017, students and staff from “Ukrainian Catholic University”, Ukraine are visiting the University College of Teacher Education. During this time they will get to know the Austrian school system and the international study programme, observe lessons and get to know the surrounding.
On 24 and 25 of October, 2017, a networking meeting of international offices took place at the University of Education Carinthia / Viktor Frankl Hochschule.
The ERASMUS+ Information Day took place on 24 October 2017 in the foyer of the University College of Teacher Education Carinthia.
Incoming students and former outgoing students presented the partner institutions and also their home countries. The information day was very well visited, especially students of the PHK showed a lot of interest, what makes us very happy.
In the time period from 16 until 20 October, 2017, the Office for International Affairs organized the already traditional 11th International Meeting. We hosted participants from 18 different countries. Together with the participants we made the meeting a great success and are already looking forward to the International Meeting 2018.
It was a rainy and cloudy day in Klaganfurt (3. 9. 2017) but that didn't stop our incoming students to take part in a city tour organized by Ms Prof. Mag. Dr. Pia-Maria Rabensteiner, BEd. The meeting point was in front the Klagenfurt Cathedral where the students received a warm welcome by Dr. Peter Allmeier,MBA. He gave them a presentation about Carinthian history and tour through the church. Afterwards he invited the students for some tea and cake, which they gladly accepted.
After the refreshment, the students proceeded with the tour through the city centrum where Ms. Prof. Mag. Dr. Pia-Maria Rabensteiner, BEd gave them some insight into the history of the city.
At the end of the tour everyone was full of new knowledge but with an empty stomach. That is why the Office for Internationa Affair invited the students to the Restaurant Pirker where they were surprised with a delicious Austrian dinner. It was a beautiful evening where we got to know each other and surly a foundation stone was laid for a start of many new friendships.

Alexander Jäger, BEd, who defended his bachelor thesis at the 16th International Students’ Research Conference in Riga, works since August 2017 at German School in Concepciòn.
We wish him all the best and we are glad that this opportunity was possible because of mutual international exchange.

In addition to this it is very gratifying that a former student – now graduated educator – takes the chance to teach during one school year at the German school in Chile. This possibility is a result of the KA107-project with Chile, which is sponsored by the “Österreichische Nationalagentur Erasmus+ Bildung” from 2015 to 2017.

Dr. Mariapia D’Angelo from the partner institution Chieti-Pescara is on a visit at the UCTE. She holds the workshops and also takes part in some seminars. During her visit she meets her students who study at the UCTE during the summer term 2017.
In addition to this she visits the NMS Waidmannsdorf and has the meetings with colleagues there.

The guests from the University of Maribor received an inside view through the UCTE, got some information about the organisation and studies here within the curriculum for incoming students “International Study Programme in Education”. Other discussions were made during a coffee-break.
On 17 May, 2017 the local students and the incoming students came together in the foyer of the UCTE. The local students made a delicious Carinthian snacks for the incoming students.
On 10 May, 2017 the Europe-wide event “30 Years Erasmus+” took place . The head of the Office for International Affairs (Prof. Mag. Dr. Pia-Maria Rabensteiner, BEd) represented Austria together with Prof. Andriana Mylchuk, MA, BA and Dr. Peter Allmaier, MBA and students of the UCTE at the 8th International Week of Professors and 16th International Students‘ Research Conference in Riga.

On 19 March, 2017, 45 people of the University of Maribor visit our institution. 15 colleagues stay at the UCTE and get information about our institution. 15 colleagues visit a bilingual school and 15 colleagues visit a kindergarten.

The Erasmus+ Information Day took place on Wednesday, 15 March, 2017. From 140 partner institutions, 24 represented their country in the foyer of the UCTE. The rector Prof. Mag. Dr. Marlies Krainz-Dürr together with the head of the International Office opened the Eramus+ Information Day. There were a lot of interesting discussions between incoming/local staff and students as well as other guests.

It was a great pleasure to host international partners/colleagues/friends at the International Meeting in Klagenfurt. We sincerely thank everyone for the participation, contribution and interesting discussions. Please find here a great TV broadcast concerning the Erasmus+ Information Day and the Erasmus+ Fair organised by the Office for International Affairs for local and international students as well as staff during the International Meeting. The last day of the International Meeting included a reflection and lectures by the participants.
The meeting was concluded by warm-hearted “good-byes”. The most sincere thank you from the Office for International Affairs to all participants and partners of the International Meeting 2016.
On that day an excursion day was offered to the International Meeting participants in the near-by town St. Veit/Glan including a comprehensive guided city tour by Ms Lisa Mitteregger, a student of the UCTE. The city tour ended in the City Hall where the Mayor Deputy and a councilman invited the guests for some snacks.
The excursion continued with a visit to the wine garden Weingut Taggenbrunn and to the wooden church of the “Holy Trinity”. The last stop was at the Cathedral of Gurk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The excursion was concluded with a delicious local lunch at Hirter Braukeller.
In the morning the Erasmus+ Information Day and the Erasmus+ Fair were organised by the Office for International Affairs. Our partner Sonnentor Klagenfurt was invited to offer their delicious products. The fair was followed by guest lectures for incoming students, former outgoing students and incoming staff.
Afterwards the busy morning was concluded with a delicious lunch at Restaurant Castello.
In the afternoon the participants could choose between a walking tour to a hill in the surrounding of Klagenfurt or a workshop at the Klagenfurt City Theater. In addition, Klagenfurt city tour was offered.
The evening continued with a dinner invitation by the Office for International Affairs at the Gasthaus Pirker.

The International Meeting 2016 was opened with a body percussion by Incoming students and a transverse flute performance. The official opening was presented by Pia-Maria Rabensteiner after which Marlies Krainz-Dürr warmly welcomed the participants.

Nikola Steiner, a 14-year-old student, carries out a short internship in the Office for International Affairs from 4 until 6 October, 2016. During the three days he gets familiar with the everyday actions of the office while completing some individual tasks. It is a great pleasure to have Nikola working in the team.
Two students, Haneen Bweerat and Karawan Abu Hussen, took part in the “UCTE exchange programme” and carried out a two-week-long teaching practice in the “New Middle School” from 19 until 30 September, 2016. The students from the institution “Al-Qasemi for Academic Education” were able to apply their skills in Arabic, Early childhood education and English. It was great having them in our institution.
On the sunny Friday 23 September, 2016 it was time to get to know the fascinating surroundings of Klagenfurt. The office team (Riina Allinen, Andriana Mylchuk, Suvi Poikela and Pia-Maria Rabensteiner) accompanied by Gerhard Rabensteiner left the rush for an outdoor adventure in Bärental, the near-by mountain area. The hike was worth the beautiful view from Klagenfurter Hütte in 800 meter of altitude. A lunch invitation by the office topped the wonderful experience.
During the orientation week (from 19 to 25 September, 2016) the incoming students were offered a city tour in Klagenfurt organised by two Finnish assistants in the Office for International Affairs. On Wednesday evening, September 21, 2016, the tour went from the Dragon Fountain at Neuer Platz through inner city via Heiligengeistplatz and continued to the Municipal Theater and through the Goethepark.
After taking a look at the Municipal Art Gallery and the Musikschule the incoming students were guided to the wonderful St. Egid Church located next to City Arkaden, one the shopping malls in Klagenfurt. After visiting the Landhaus courtyard the 1,5-hour-long tour ended at a legend about the “Wörther-See Mandl” in Kramergasse, the first pedestrian zone in Austria.
After the pleasant city tour the incoming students were invited by the Office for International Affairs team for an Austrian dinner in Gasthaus Pirker. Before the dinner a nice group picture was taken in the near-by park. In the Gasthaus there were lively conversations in numerous different languages in which new connections were made. The food was, as always, delicious. The city tour and the collective dinner were a beautiful start the “Erasmus+ adventure” in Klagenfurt.

15 September, 2016 two Master-level students from the University of Oulu in Finland, Riina Allinen and Suvi Poikela, started their 10-month-long Erasmus+ traineeship in the office. The tasks on coordinating international cooperation with partner institutions, universities and business partners are running in English and German languages.

My name is Riina Allinen and I am one of the two Finnish assistants in the Office for International Affairs at the University College of Teacher Education / Pädagogische Hochschule Kärnten - Viktor Frankl Hochschule. I am truly looking forward to the following academic year in the beautiful region of Carinthia.
I come from Lahti and I am about to finish my Master studies in Intercultural Education at the University of Oulu.

The new curriculum "International Study Programme in English" for incoming students is valid since the academic year 2016/17. Teachers, working within this new curriculum, offer their lectures in English and German language. The curriculum will be available here soon.
On 1 and 2 September, 2016 the 1st Internal Conference from the Office for International Affairs will take place.
Teachers who are working within the new course of instruction for incoming students "International Study Programme in English" take part in this conference. The conference takes place in Kötschach-Mauthen.

During 20 June, 2016 and 22 June, 2016 a "Preparatory Meeting" for a planned KA2-Project (Capacity Building) takes place at the UCTE. The planned KA2-Project has been initiated from the Office for International Affairs and will be coordinated for the UCTE from the Office for International Affairs further on. The planned project where European partners (Austria, Germany, Spain) and partners from South America (Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay) are involved, will be submitted in February 2017. Already now a warm-hearted WELCOME to the participants of the "Preparatory Meeting".
During the last three months the new bilateral agreements were signed and although the summer term is coming to end, you can already sign in for the winter term 2016/17.

On 2 June, 2016 the incoming staff from Slovakia, Hungary and Turkey visited the "Neue Mittelschule Waidmannsdorf". They received information about the Austrian educational system, school location Waidmannsdorf and about the school from the Dir. Walter Kopaunik. Ms Justyna Kotowicz, M.A. from the Pedagogical University Cracow / Poland, visit the UCTE / PHK (23 - 27 May, 2016). During her stay in Klagenfurt within the Erasmus+ Mobility, she attended many lectures at the UCTE / PHK.
Ms Alessandra Kenner, M.A. from the Vocational training centre, university education (University Erlangen-Nurnberg) visit the UCTE / PHK (17 - 20 May, 2016). After the guided tour to the city centre, the lectures were organized for Ms Kenner and also further cooperation possibilities were discussed.
On 11 May, 2016 the Conference Erasmus+ University Education took place in Vienna, under the motto: „internationalization@home“.
Beside the main lecture „internationalization@home“ - International Education beyond the mobility - Change of perspective“ , were also this lectures: "Insight in the activities of universities", "Insight in the activities of National Agency Lifelong Learning", short lectures from universities with this topics and also about Erasmus+ panels.
The Head of the Office for International Affairs held a lecture in the resonance room with the topic „internationalization@home“, the internationalization strategy of the UCTE, where she spoke about general conditions, initiatives, challenges and activities.

On 10 May, 2016 the 2nd Erasmus+ Conference took place in Vienna. In the center of attention was the expansion, the influence and sustainability of Erasmus+ success stories and future perspectives.

The two professors Ms Assoc. Prof. Dr Ivanka Mincheva Georgieva and Ms Assoc. Prof. Dr Galya Vasileva Nakova, from the University Veliko Tarnovo / Bulgaria visit the UCTE / PHK (9 - 13 May, 2016). The lectures were organized for the two professors, who had an opportunity to observe the classes and get to know new teaching methods at the UCTE / PHK.
The incoming students took the part in the national competition "Quiz Politische Bildung - EuropaQuiz 2016" on 27 April, 2016 and presented their language, culture and country.
The two professors Mgr. art. PaedDr. Rastislav Biarinec, ArtD. and Doc. akad. mal. Pavol Rusko, ArtD. from University Ruzomberok / Slovakia visit the UCTE / PHK (4 - 8 April, 2016). The guided city tour and other cultural activities were organized for the two professors who also give lectures to the students at the UCTE / PHK.
The trainee, Ms Alena Kadlecová, Bc. who is completing her traineeship in the Office for the International Affairs during the academic year 2015/2016, represented her work at the International Meeting from 4 - 8 April, 2016 at her home-institution.

Between 31, March, 2016 bis 1, April, 2016 the incoming students took the trip to Gailtal. Thereby they received an insight view into the historical, geographical, artistic, geological, economical and touristic highlights of the region.

The Head of the Office for the International Affairs was invited on 30 March, 2016, to give a lecture on a topic „Gelebte Internationalität an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Kärnten / Viktor Frankl Hochschule“. The club members listened to the lecture with a great pleasure and interest. A dynamic discussion followed afterwards.
Talks about a co-operation beetwen the Office for International Affairs and the Musilhaus (Head of the Musil Museum: Mr. Dr Heimo Strempfl) took place. At the same time, the incoming staff from the University of Osijek / Croatia, Doc. Vjekoslav Galzina had the opportunity to see how the local cooperations with the Office of the International Affairs work.
The CEEPUS coordinator Doc. Vjekoslav Galzina from University Osijek / Croatia visited the UCTE / PHK (9 March, 2016 - 15 March, 2016). Beside the conversation how to motivate students to go abroad in one of the partner countries within the CEEPUS network, Mr. Doc. Vjekoslav Galzina represented Croatia on the Erasmus+ Informationday and attended / gave classes. Doc. Vjekoslav Galzina took also part in "Janoschday" (Kärntner Buchhandlung and Musilhaus).

The Office of the International Affairs took part in "JANOSCHDAY", organised by the Kärntner Buchhandlung, Musilhaus and Arbeiterkammer library. Both assistants, Ms Kadlecová, Bc. and Ms Frigelj, who are working in the Office for the International Affairs during sommer term 2016 as intern, worked in the Musilhaus with children from the International School Carinthia and helped them with creative activities.

On Wednesday, 9 March, 2016, the incoming students were invited to the "Welcome Dinner" from the Head of the Office for the International Affairs. The students have adjust themselves very well, they like studying at the UCTE / PHK and at the "Welcome Dinner" they got to know the typical Austrian cuisine. The students also exchange their experience.

During 26 - 28 November, 2015 incoming students had a great opportunity to visit Vienna, the capital city of Austria. The excursion was a big part of internalization process and as well an important part of the subjects that students attend. During the excursion students visited the Zoo "Schönbrunn", school based on Freinet's teaching methods, Schlosspark Schönbrunn, Vienna Naschmarkt etc. On 27 November after the afternoon programme, incoming students group took a train to Baden bei Wien, where they had a great opportunity to perform their little Christmas event prepared by them for local people.
Twice a year the Erasmus+ Information Day takes place.
On 28 October, 2015 incoming students from different countries who are studying at the Pädagogische Kärnten / Viktor Frankl Hochschule prepared information about their countries and home institutions. They wanted also to encourage local students to go abroad and to study at their home universities.

Dr. Pia-Maria Rabensteiner, BEd, Leiterin der Servicestelle ,,Bildungskooperationen und internationale Kontakte" wurde im Beisein des österreichischen Botschafters, Herrn Dr. Arad Benkö, bei der Eröffnung der 14. International Students' Research Conference und 6. International Week of Professors an der Faculty of Education, Psychology and Arts informiert, dass sie vom Senat der Universität Lettland aufgrund ihres internationalen Engagements bezüglich der Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität die Auszeichnung

"HONORARY FELLOW OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LATVIA"
Die offizielle feierliche Zeremonie wird im Rahmen der Senatssitzung beim 96. Jahrestag der Universität am 3.10.2015 an der Universität Lettland stattfinden.
Diese hohe Auszeichnung erhielten seit dem Jahr 1920 erst 50 Personen, worunter sich zwei lettische Präsidenten befinden.
HONORARY FELLOW OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LATVIA
Ms Mag. Dr. Pia-Maria Rabensteiner, BEd, Head of the Office for International Affairs has been informed at the opening ceremony of the 14th International Students' Research Conference and 6th International Week of Professors at the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Arts, which also the Austrian ambassador Mr. Dr. Arad Benkö attended, that the Senate of the University of Latvia has awarded her the title HONORARY FELLOW OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LATVIA, considering the outstanding achievements in planning, organizing, implementing and developing a diverse cooperation between the students and staff of the UCTE and the Teacher Education Department at the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Arts: common projects, students' practice, student and staff exchange, scientific conferences, students' cross-country theses at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level, students' international research conferences, active participation at international weeks of professors and publishing as well as significant promotion of the international recognition of the University of Latvia in Austria and other countries.
The awarding ceremony will take place during the ceremonial meeting of the Senate on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the University of Latvia on October 3rd, 2015 where the DIPLOMA OF MEMBRUM HONORIS CAUSA will be given.
Since 1920 only 50 people have received this award where two Latvian presidents can be found too.

Apbalvošanas ceremonija notiks Latvijas Universitātes 96.gadadienai veltītajā svinīgajā Senāta sēdē 2015.gada 3.oktobrī, kur tiks izsniegts MEMBRUM HONORIS CAUSA DIPLOMS.

Der österreichische Botschafter, Herr Dr. Arad BENKÖ, war bei der Eröffnung der Student/innenkonferenz anwesend und hielt die Eröffnungsrede.
Erasmus+ Jahrestagung Hochschule
Am 7.5.2015 referierte die Leiterin der Servicestelle ,,Bildungskooperationen und internationale Kontakte" bei der Erasmus+ Jahrestagung Hochschule wie bei der Antragstellung für die Aktion KA 107 Internationale Hochschulmobilität heran gegangen wurde, welche Aspekte besonders berücksichtigt wurden und wie die Argumentation bei den einzelnen Punkten stattfand.

Excursion with Israeli students from the Kaye Academic College
The Office for International Affairs at the University College of Teacher Education Kärnten has a pleasure to welcome and host two female students from the Kaye Academic College and one brother from the student to Klagenfurt. Erasmus+ Information Day
The ERASMUS+ Information Day (invitation) took place on 18 March, 2015 in the foyer of the University College of Teacher Education Kärnten. The highlight of the day was a visit from the Latvian Consul in Carinthia, Mr. Dr. Wolfgang Lattacher. Read more about the event and special guest here.
Qualitätssicherung bei grenzüberschreitender Mobilität / Auslandsaufenthalt - und danach?
Beim 8. Bolognatag, welcher von der Österreichischen Nationalagentur Lebenslanges Lernen veranstaltet und an der Privaten Pädagogischen Hochschule der Diözese Linz am 16. März 2015 abgehalten wurde, fanden Vorträge und fünf Foren zur Thematik der grenzüberschreitenden Mobilitäten und deren Mehrwert für berufliche Qualifikationen statt.
Kurzfassungen aus den Foren und die Diskussion über die Frage nach der Sichtbarmachung, der Qualitätssicherung von Mobilitäten, der Implementierung von Internationalität in den Curricula und der Mobilitätshindernisse bildeten den Abschluss der eintägigen Veranstaltung. Der Bolognatag fand in deutscher und englischer Sprache statt.
Am Bolognatag 2015 nahmen die Leiterin der Servicestelle ,,bildungskooperationen und internationale Kontakte" sowie der Bologna-Beauftragte der PHK teil.

Cooperation with LBI
The Bilateral Agreement was signed between LBI Lehrerbildungsinstitut Wilhelm von Humboldt and UTCE Kärnten that staff and students can use their mobilities. This cooperation was initiated during summer 2014. The Austrian ambassador Ms Mag. Dorothea Auer visited the LBI on that day when the agreement was signed from the rector Mr Dr. Alban Schraut to show her emphasis and appreciation about this mutual exchange.
