The Austrian National Agency Erasmus+ has been awarding Erasmus+ projects of outstanding quality for 6 years now. In December 2020, the University of Teacher Education Carinthia - Office for International Affairs was awarded the Erasmus+ Award 2020 for Higher Education for the innovative Mobility project "International University Mobility 2017”.
The award-winning Erasmus+ KA 107 project involves international educational cooperation between the University College of Teacher Education Carinthia and partner institutions in Chile and Ukraine. The international jury was particularly impressed by the successful expansion of international educational cooperation and the steady exchange of students and staff with partner universities in Chile and Ukraine. In Chile, there are numerous German schools where students can complete their school practice.
Since the University College of Teacher Education Carinthia actively supports internships abroad, many students have taken their chance and completed a student mobility.
The ERASMUS+ Award 2020 ceremony took place virtually on 21.12.2020.
Europe-wide, the #ErasmusDays took place on October 15th, 16th and 17th, celebrating international mobility and intercultural exchange. The University College of Teacher Education – Viktor Frankl Hochschule welcomed the chance and celebrated its well-known “Erasmus+ Info Day” hosted by the Office for International Affairs on October 15th, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pädagogische Hochschule Kärnten.
The Dean of the UCTE, Ms Marlies Krainz-Dürr, warmely welcomed all the participants, namely international and local students. Ms Eva Lurz, the Head of the International Office, mentioned the history of the Erasmus+ Info day at PH Kärnten and its importance as a space for intercultural exchange and internationalism in her opening words. Then, Milica Marković, former Erasmus+ student and trainee at UCTE and now lecturer at UCTE, shared her mobility experiences and its positive outcome and side effects.
In the centre of the Erasmus+ Info Day 2020 there were poster presentations of incoming students from the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Spain and Ukraine about their home countries and -institutions. The local students presented cool places to hang out in Klagenfurt and also beautiful nature spots in the Carinthian region. Two local students, who already took their chance and participated in Erasmus+ mobilities, shared also their international experience and had an open ear for questions regarding the mobility programme.
Afterwards, a buffet and plenty of Erasmus+ goodies finalized the celebration. The international office team would like to thank everybody who actively participated in the Erasmus+ day, because all together we managed to reach our goals, which were: getting together, connecting exchanging and sharing. The Office for International Affairs of the University College of Teacher Education is coordinating international cooperation in the field of education with its partner institutions (universities and university colleges) and business partners.
The Office for International Affairs manages mobility programmes for students and staff as well as organizes International Meetings, Staff Weeks in education hosting experts in the field of education from all over Europe as well as non-European countries.
In addition to that, the office provides support services for international incoming students and staff, and guidance for outgoing students and staff to plan their studies abroad.
The University College of Teacher Education has a lot of agreements with European and non-European universities or university colleges and schools. New collaborations are being developed to offer even better network of partners to our students and staff.

Klagenfurt am Wörthersee is the capital of one of the nine Austrian counties - Carinthia. This town has nearly 100.000 inhabitants. Klagenfurt is located next to the lake called Wörthersee, but also between the Alps and the Sea, near to Slovenia and Italy (Alpe-Adria-Region).
It is located in the triangle of the three different cultures: Austrian, Italian and Slovenian. Those who are active can do sports during the four seasons. The whole year you can find cultural events, not only in Klagenfurt but in whole of Carinthia. Carinthian people are very open-minded and friendly, they like to sing and you can enjoy a really good cuisine.
